DESCRIPTION:
A wonderful set of ten #J80 dining chairs by Jørgen Bækmark for FDB. The American Shaker movement had a profound effect on Scandinavian furniture designers. Mogensen, Volther and Wegner found inspiration from Shaker designs. The Danish Co-op (FDB) hired designers to design affordable but well designed furniture for the mass Danish market and the Shaker movement provided influence to accomplish this. Bækmark designed this chair as a dining but carried it through to a armchair and an easy chair with ottoman. It is very versatile and could be used as an occasional or desk chair. The deep backrest is supported by solid wood dowels. Its constructed of solid white oak which has a lovely golden hue. The seat is made from wrapped paper cord which was a great alternative to fabric. This is a nice large matching set that would be a great addition to any modern environment.
