DESCRIPTION:
We are proud to offer this very rare and early pair of armchair by Nanna Ditzel for Soren Willadsen. This particular chair was designed only for the town hall in Ringsted, Denmark in very small numbers. An exact number is not known but discussions with Ditzel's daughter Dennie, who controls Jørgen and Nanna Ditzel's archive, verifies it was drawn only for this project so the quantity would have been only what this small town hall would have required. Also, it is assumed the manufacturing of this chair was done by Søren Willadsen as it pre-dates the relationship with Poul Kolds Savværk. Original drawings also suggest this. The design is quite streamlined with a one-piece rounded back and arm. We see this concept carried forward in other Ditzel designs to follow. The frame is constructed of solid beech and is covered in leather. These chairs would be an amazing addition to any Ditzel or Danish modern collection.
