ITEM #: EC045
A pair of beech easy chairs by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen. These unique chairs were designed for the 1965 Copenhagen Furniture Fair and are a departure from Jacobsen's more popular designs such as the Egg and Swan chair. It is quite a linear design but still very comfortable due to the floating backrest that tilts. The amount of "lean" in the backrest is also adjustable by a leather strap that is attached to the rear of the backrest and wraps under the seat. The seats float above solid beech frames. A unique feature of the construction are the visable mortise and tenon joints throughout. The Danish wool is very nice in very good condition. A unique and seldom seen pair of chairs that would fit well in any modern environment.
