DESCRIPTION:
A teak easy chair by Finn Juhl for France & Søn. Finn Juhl's pieces for Niels Vodder are some of the most defining designs of the Danish Modern movement. After this relationship ended, he continued his career with the manufacturer, France & Søn. This was quite a prolific period for Juhl and he designed many pieces for the famous company. The #137 model, or "Japan" chair as it was nicknamed, was one of the most popular. The nickname is well suited for this piece as proven by the obvious Asian esthetic. The seat floats on the solid teak frame and is supported on the back by a large round beam and brass hardware. This portion of the frame would simply extend to form a two and three seat version and is the basis of the design's nickname. We've recovered the piece in brand new Kvadrat Hallingdal wool. This would be a wonderful piece to add to your modern setting.
