DESCRIPTION:
An Arne Vodder reclining beech easy chair for France & Daverkosen which later became France & Søn. Arne Vodder was certainly one of the more prolific designers out of Denmark. His designs are especially popular and for very good reason. Besides Sibast, France & Søn produced a lot of Vodder's designs. This was an early design for France & Søn and introduced a 2-position reclining feature that was carried over to later designs. Along with the spring cushions, It makes the chair very comfortable to sit in. The external frame is constructed entirely out of solid beech which was prized by the Danes for furniture making. Another unique feature is the joint between the armrest and the legs. The joint is visable from the top and while adding visual interest, it also displays construction techniques. We love the flared armrests which are reminiscent of Finn Juhl's designs. The striped wool fabric is original and in good condition but reupholstery services are offered. This chair would make a great addition to any modern environment.
