A rare and exceptional Cuban mahogany desk designed by Jacob Kjær. Kjær displayed this design at the 1936 Copenhagen Cabinemaker's Guild Exhibition. There are three drawers as well as a pull-out writing surface. It is a very minimal design for this era and is stripped of all unnecessary elements. The construction is what you would expect from such a distinguished cabinetmaker. The quality of materials is something you rarely see anymore. Almost the entire piece, including the desktop and frame, is made from solid Cuban mahogany timbers! The only exception is the solid white oak used to construct the drawers. The thin drawer handles have a shallow recess in the bottom to allow for your fingers to grab. We have refinisded the piece which will give it many more years of use. This unique desk would fit equally well into a SOHO setting or any other office environment.
