A pair of Hans Wegner JH811 steel armchairs for Johannes Hansen. Wegner designed a series of executive steel-framed office furniture in 1970 which consisted of his now iconic JH810 desk and the JH811, 812 and 813 chairs. This armchair was part of the series and demonstrates Wegner's versatility as a designer. Mostly working in wood, Wegner had few metal chairs but even so, he created some of his best pieces with the material. The unique part of this chair is the one piece outside frame steel element which, on the rear post, is twisted 180° to allow for the connection of the frame to the backrest. The seat, backrest and arms are covered in a red weave fabric. The chair is comfortable as is the case with almost all Wegner chairs. This pair would fit well into virtually any modern office (or home) environment.
